One Year of Books, Stories, and Inspiration

"There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all."
— Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Celebratory graphic featuring a colourful stack of books arranged like a birthday cake, topped with a single lit candle. Balloons, bunting, confetti, and sparkles surround the books against a blue background with a white border. The text reads, “One Year of Books, Stories, and Inspiration” and “Thanks for following along.” The Little Goodbyes Press bunny logo appears in the lower corner.

Just over a year ago, I started this blog and incredible journey of creating books. I've had so much support from around the world and that means everything. My family and friends have been there every step of the way and I appreciate each and every one of you.

Behind the Books Begins

People sometimes ask why I share so many books that aren't from my own press. It's a good question and t
he answer is simple. I love books. They have always been my happy place and children's books have a special place in my heart.

Long before I started writing and illustrating my own stories, I was reading picture books with my family, collecting favourites, and paying attention to the stories that stayed with me long after I turned the last page.  So that's why you'll find more than just my books being talked about in my posts, on our website and in our socials.

Of course, some posts are about Little Goodbyes Press titles. Some are behind-the-scenes looks at illustration, publishing, and research that I do. Some are about Canadian traditions and folklore that inspire future projects, and some are simply books I think deserve to be celebrated.

The Books We Love page and posts gives me a chance to share stories that have inspired me, made me laugh, taught me something, or reminded me why children's books matter in the first place.

In a way, creating books and reading books have always gone hand in hand for me. If you're here for the stories, the artwork, the history behind the books, or simply because you love children's literature, you're in the right place.

Thank you for following along as I navigate this truly wonderous experience, your support is truly invaluable.
