Le Corbeau et le Renard

The French edition of The Fox and the Crow is now available in both hardcover and softcover. Le Corbeau et le Renard follows a clever fox, a proud crow, and one very tempting piece of cheese. Through flattery and a carefully chosen compliment, the fox finds a way to get exactly what he wants. This classic fable has been told and retold for generations, but its lesson about pride, praise, and believing everything we are told remains just as familiar today. A Monarch Tales Picture Book Le Corbeau et le Renard is part of the Monarch Tales series , which introduces traditional fables to young readers through short, accessible stories and distinctive illustrations. The characters and scenes in this edition were created using modelling clay and mixed-media artwork, giving the fox, crow, and their woodland setting a playful, three-dimensional appearance. The Fox and The Crow

Buy The Fox and The Crow on Amazon.com The Fox and the Crow has been one of my favourite stories to bring to life and we had fun making some of the parts of the images from oven-baked clay at home, including the logo! See our post  Introducing the Monarch Tales to see that process. Of course, I'm also using Krita to help make the illustrations for these books just as I did for my Bye-Bye, Boobies book and I shared in this post .  We all know the tale, the fox wants the cheese but how can you get it from the crow high up in the maple tree? Inspired by Aesop’s classic fable, it’s my Canadian retelling and part of the  Monarch Tales collection. The hardcover edition has been out a couple of weeks and has been joined by a new more affordable softcover version, perfect for families and classrooms. Teachers and homeschool parents can also find a free Educational Guide for this title, filled with discussion prompts, a seek-and-find activity. It’s been wonderful to s...

Stuck in the Mail

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”  — A. A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh) Not Planned This isn’t the post I had planned on writing today. I thought I’d be sharing fresh updates and moving things forward, with a new book proof in hand, but instead I’m stuck in the waiting game.  Canada Post Strike It's true, publishing is full of a lot of waiting, but right now the wait feels extra long. Because of the unexpected Canada Post strike, two important packages are sitting in limbo somewhere between the printer and my mailbox. Package #1 The first package holds the copies I need to send to Library and Archives Canada for all three versions of Bye, Bye, Boobies as well as the softcover version of Shelved . As mentioned in this post , every Canadian publisher has to deposit two copies of each book with LAC in order to keep using our free ISBN program. Until those copies get here, I can’t forward them on to Ottawa which also means my book won’t yet sh...
